When we were fed up… We wrote to vent… And created DISASTER

If in your every day business and life you find yourself faced with too many useless information, fake news, human stupidity, ridiculous pressures, forms that serve only themselves and various other bullshit, and at the same time you find yourself to be responsible, dedicated to your work and willing to change things, you might think that YOU are the one that’s not normal.

Well, this is where we were in 2016 when we decided to express our frustration with the bad and gratitude for the good by – writing a book!

And in 2020., fittingly mid-global pandemic, our first book “DISASTER – Diagnosis of Modern Business” saw the light of day.

This is the book we were writing while we were dealing with psychotic fits of our clients, business partners and colleagues. We hoped it would open a few eyes and tell people that being miserable is not a virtue, that being blinded by rules and systems is not healthy, that we need to appreciate creativity and play.

Yes, even in serious business. Especially in serious business, because children take their play seriously… Cutting to the point, this picturebook for business people is an antidote to the present state of the business world and a call for change!

1 What exactly is „Disaster“?

A picture book for business people is, as any other picture book, an educational book. Guidance and therapy to today’s grey businessmen, it is an attempt to awaken us all from lethargy and bad habits of today’s way of doing business. It is a reminder and an alarm, motivation and pointer to change.

Created out of a decades long business experience and real daily situations, the idea of a “picture book for businessmen” was born and cultivated by Crocon CEO Linda Poščić Borovac.

Through the concept of a clinic meant to treat damaged business people, in eight main sections it unapologetically dissects and makes fun of the issues we isolated as the most problematic: the complete attack on our minds by useless information, pressures and superficial distractions leading to burnout; the toxic climates throughout most organizations; the crippling globalization; the extinction of business manners and principles; the detrimental reign of the ego; the cancer of entrepreneurship – bureaucracy within public services.

As we fight the situation with relentless humor, we remain positive and hopeful that it can be better (because it used to be!) so we also provide colorful advice, some perspective and a few inspirational stories of those good business people, the so-called doctors of business, actually based on our real business partners.

2 What’s the problem,
you ask?

The problem our picture book colorfully and unmistakably exposes is the illness of today’s business world. Why is the point of business imprisoned by forms, questionnaires, contracts? Why do we spend 15+ years in an educational system that is not preparing us for life?Why do we pay lazy, irresponsible people in real money when the work they do is fake? Why are relationships between business partners dying out and a person’s word means less and less? Why are we complicating everything instead of simplifying? Why did we forget to truly listen?

3 So, what do we do about it?

The book aims to change perceptions and take down stereotypes, to inspire and reshape minds and habits. In a cheerful and deceivingly simple manner we want to get you to think about serious issues facing today’s business world, in humble hopes of starting a change within at least one of our readers.

Our tools are our HUMOR and our SPIRIT, because what else is there if you don’t want to become grey people? We are pointing our finger at the wounds of the sick world, opening eyes, refusing to let this
be ignored, relentlessly proving that it can and MUST be better than this.

This EFFORT is all anyone can ask for and the key to shaking the status quo. What we do is we ask the questions and refuse to let this just quietly be.

4 Authorship –
who is behind it?

The book was once imagined and now realized by Crocon’s very own Linda Poščić Borovac and Ana Zoričić, in collaboration with local writer Zoran Krušvar and designer Veronika Uravić-Čolak.

Winners of many international awards for our creative works, some of the most notable being the Stevie Awards for Women in Business we received in New York City in 2015. and more recently Creators for Centuries recognition and the Hermes Creative Award, we have been making original creative content under our brand Authentic & Certified by Crocon for years.

5Who needs this?

This book is meant for business people who are simultaneously the cause and the product of today’s way of doing business. In 2021 “DISASTER” was awarded the Content Marketing Award as BEST CORPORATE BOOK by the Content Marketing Institute in New York.

Between 1000 applicants for the award „DISASTER“ is awarded as best in our category and we were especially happy that CMI recognized our work as one of the lead marketing authorities in the world and in this way gave us a chance to spread even wider the message and values Crocon has been living for nearly three decades in the international business.
